Would you be a hero?

I would be a hero if it was either for a cause I cared about or if it was for people... to save lives of others.  I think that no one knows whether they'd be a hero though until they are put into the situation. 

I work for CPS as an investigator.IMHO the people who attempt (and I emphasis ATTEMPT) to protect the children from harm at the hands of their most trusted guardians are unsung heroes.I've had knives at my throat,punched so hard in the stomach it pulferated an ulcer and caused my spleen to bleed and then there's the case who bought a gun and followed me from my office to the el for four days.I look over my shoulder every second of every day but I remain committed to my work.My co-workers have suffered more than I have and show up to work 100 hours a week sometimes without fail.

We risk our lives,our sanity and many relationships and people call us "body snatchers" and recently "the new gestapo".I don't call myself a hero at all (see above,the looking-over-the-shoulder thing) but I know some people who are and deserve worlds more respect than they are given.
