Cults come and go, but all share a few disturbing points:

1.  They are "alternatives."  They appeal only to those who hold genuine faith in disdain and want "something different."

2.  They all claim that mainline Christianity, "Is in a state of apostacy."  Their charismatic leaders manipulate their followers with threats of hell, death, or other nastiness, which is clearly contrary to the wholesome teachings of Jesus and the Apostles.

3.  Many cults are just plain violent.  One such example is Islam -- now considered a "mainline" religion but it remains a cult, regardless. 

4.  Cults are utterly intolerant of any dissent and will not tolerate debate.  What the cult leader says, goes, no matter what.

5.  Cults are personality-based groups of devotees who will do quite literally ANYTHING for their "messiahs."  Yet, their "messaihs" lack the authenticity of the actual Messiah: miracles, including the resurrection of the dead.

6.  It is not unusual for a certain variety of "true believer" to go from one cult to another, fanatically preach their doctrine, and then find out that he was misled -- and then repeat the process.

It is disturbing to note that cults of personality empoewered Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Obama, and virtually all other ruthless and manipulative despots throughout history.

One cult is a bit odder than most: the atheist cult.  These people seem to think that there is no such thing as truth therefore everyone is a liar and must be destroyed by any means possible.  Atheists are the most abrasive and unforgiving cult of misfits that ever existed, and their cult has caused more bloodshed and tyranny than all other causes combined -- and then, atheists claim that they were "justified."

Jesus asked us to be kind, to forgive, and to love.

Atheists and other cultists find that Jesus' teachings do not give them political clout.

Use your mind and spirit together.  There you will find the truth.
