Please help me remember the name of this movie!!!

There's an old movie from about 1995-1999 that I cannot remember the title of. I am almost positive that the title had the word Horse in it. It was about a girl who lived with her dad and she got mixed up with the wrong crowd in school. She ended up drinking and getting into trouble and so her dad sent her off to live at a ranch. At the beginning of the movie her and her dad might have just moved to this new town because her mom died I think, but I'm not sure.  I can't really remember too much more. I just wanted to look up the actress to see what ever happened to her.  The name is killing me though and I CANNOT think of it!! Please help!!!!

I am looking for the title of a movie made in the 50's, black and white as I recall.  It's about a young woman that goes to a dark manion.  She is the heiress to a fortune.  Relatives plan on killing her.  The house is full of cats that systematically kill the relatives to protect her.
