"What does it profit a man to gain the world if he loses his soul?"

You could create a blog and just put your idea out there.  You could tell us the idea here and see if anyone thinks it is a good idea, or will tell you why it isn't a good idea.

With out knowing what the idea is, I would go as far as saying that it has already atleast been considered somewhere in the world, if not used. In NZ only a very small fraction of our electricity is generated by fossil fuels.

there are plenty of ways to produce electricity without oil.

Nuclear energy, solar cells, hydroelectric power station, wind generator etc.

I don't know what is your idea but I would like to remind you that it has to be cost efficient (the main draw back of solar cells is in that point) and it need to be less polluting that oil (again with the solar cells whose production is highly polluting due to silicon refining).

But please, open some sort of a blog so we can see your idea (and maybe someone with the enough money can invest in the idea).

Unrewarded genius is a proverb.  It would indeed be very ingenious of you to devise an oil-free way to generate electricity in an oil-based world economy.  You would become an instant trillionaire.  The first thing to do is to protect your idea by putting it in some tangible and concrete form, such a patent, trade mark and/or copyright to prevent shisters from abscounding with it.  Once that is done, see help through traditional avenues.

His work can only be protected by patent. The issue is that a global patent cost a respectable amount of money and local patent doesn't really protect your work. Also, the patent is as good as your lawyer.

To make a profit out of your idea you'll have to make electricity which will cost you less then the price of electricity today.
