Construction work of some kind, any kind is applicable. Most new guys start out with no experience and no education, just a strong back. The more skill you have, the easier the work is physically, generally. You probably won't work at a level that directly relates to architecture at first, but eventually you can get to a point where design matters more than lifting materials does. Ultimately, construction work is the physical expression of the art of architecture.
It used to be that you could work as a draftsman without special training, and possibly you still can, but it's not as likely as a construction job. autoCAD has reduced those jobs somewhat.
