I had my tubes tied , cut and burned five almost six years ago. My question is can someone who has there tubes tied get in vitro and have a successful pregnancy? Or do they need to untie there tubes?

You could do either.  Tubal ligation reversal has a success rate of somewhere in the ballpark of 75%, but requires surgery.  IVF has as much as a 70% success rate, but keep in mind that it requires hormone injections, egg harvesting, and the risk of failure (which means you'd have to start over again, with the same expenses).

So, I guess you should probably talk things over with your physician and decide which is right for you, your pocketbook, and your patience.

517 thumbs up

Fertility Stories - infertility experiences of people like you.

I think the stats quoted for successful tubal reversal are high. With the tubes being cut, tied and burned, it may not even be possible.

IVF, however, is possible. It's not an easy process, but has fairly good success rates.

Good luck,

I have a question for you. I am in the process of getting my tubes burnt.  I am sure that getting them tied is different but my question is I have read many horror stories from women who suffer from bad side effects their doctors totally ingnore.  And no one has said anything about the scare that it leaves you on your stomach...is there a scare? do you have a choice to cut you 1 inch 2 inches 3 onto 5 inches I hear?  What side effects have you had and do you have a scare?
