It means the attorney is asking the judge to set a date for the next pretrial hearing to discuss things like whether gathering of evidence and sharing of evidence between the two sides (discovery) is done, whether mental fitness exams were performed, whether witness lists were exchanged, whether a plea bargain has been agreed upon, etc. were done or they need more time before trial.

Thanks for that. This is related to family law. Each parent is in a different country. The side petitioning the courts does not have the children but is seeking joint custody from another country. Confusing...
