Tylenol can be taken without regard for food. It can be taken on empty stomach. Higher doses of Tylenol can cause liver damage. Therapeutic doses of Tylenol in alcoholics will cause liver damage.
Ibuprofen has anti-inflammatory properties aside from analgesic action. It should be taken with milk or meals to minimize gastric discomfort. It may cause abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, peptic ulceration with or without gastrointesinal bleeding or perforation. Ibuprofen may also cause drowsiness, nervousness or syncope.
