I would suggest that you check with the hospital where it will be performed and see if they have a seminar available. I attended one and the information was very helpful. There are several different forms of bariatric surgery to choose from. Some are very invasive and others are not quite as dangerous. Your health at the time of the surgery can make the surgery more deadly. The results will vary per procedure. The lap band only involves a small incision and some procedures will require removing your gallbladder. I know two people who have had this surgery. One gained most of the weight back, but the other didn't. You still need to diet, and this is just an aid. Some people figure out ways to eat more food. What is the point. You have to be committed. Please let me know what you find out and best wishes. By the way, I decided not to do it, but if I can't lose more weight, I will end up doing it. Good Luck!
