"Salad" is not a magic word or even a magic food for weight loss. Salad basically is a code for a dish which may or may not have some vegetables included. But with the vegetables you have dressing and any additional ingredients that could be very rich in calories. For a salad to be beneficiary in terms of weight loss it has to contain low fat and low carb dressing, and consist mainly if not solely of vegetables and greens.

Try replacing the slim fast with some real food, try to slightly and gradually increase the intensity of your exercise regiment, and you will get leaner and healthier.

It depends what is in the salads :)  If you're smothering them with fatty dressing then it could still be bad for you.  If you are only eating lettuice and tomatoes, for example, then you will be misisng out on a lot of stuff that you need for a healthy diet.  The key is variety - make sure you eat lots of different kinds of food for good health, and

sustainable weight loss.

The people above are telling you not to take fatty dressings with your salad.  This info is a bit incomplete.  Olive oil and walnut oil both are very good for your health as they are essential fatty acids which are normally devoid in most westen diets.  If you don't get enough you can end up with dry skin and various other health problems.

My Mom has been doing really well with her weight loss by cutting out bread and potatoes along with walking more.  Never starve yourself but make sure you're eating foods with plenty of nutrients in them.

I don't know. I've been doing nothing but salads for dinner the last couple of weeks and I've been doing OK.

I'm not using salads as a replacement for exercise, or a means of weight loss, but rather a supplement to eating better. This way I can get some vegetables into my diet. Eat a little healthier, you know?

Although that I'm not eating so much red meat, my body's rebelling and craving protein. I've been wanting to eat just tons of meat. I've been resisting pretty well so far.

I actually have a little way worked out to satisfy that craving. I eat salads for dinner Monday through Thursday, and Friday I go out with my friends and allow myself something slightly more indulgent. I try not to go overboard. Sometimes I just end up getting a salad with some type of meat on it.

Also during the week, I drink protein shakes (whey) just before I work out. It's been doing pretty well for me. I'm slowly moving from fat-sh** to fat-a**.
