You do lose weight but very little amounts; it is not a good way to lose weight, but a wonderful way to get dehydrated. I know that boxers usually train with extra lairs of clothing on them before the boxing committee measure their weight – but they gain it in half an hour after drinking all the water they lost.

CAN YOU LOSE WEIGHT JUST FROM SWEATING?

Yes, you will lose "weight" for a short period of time.  The scale will register a weight loss.  But it is merely temporary water loss.  REALLY temporary.  As soon as you drink appropriate amounts of water/fluids (which your body will require after it's been taxed), the scale will reflect the re-gain.

Sweating is a symptom of overheating ... overheating caused by either direct or ambient heat in the atmosphere, or heat caused by metabolic response to exertion such as exercise.  When heat is present, the body will produce and excrete sweat as a means of cooling itself.

Water has nothing to do with pounds of fat or muscle--at least not in the context that most people are referring to when they say they want to "lose weight".  When most of us refer to "weight loss", what is really meant is a loss of fat which will hopefully cause us to be smaller on a permanent basis.

Ideally, an overweight body is going to shed pounds by burning unwanted fat.  Sweating does not cause a loss of fat, only water.

The weight you lose just from sweating is only water and fat, both of which you need to keep in your body.  You need water and salt is what keeps everything in your body balanced.  Sure, sweating from aerobic exercise is something else.  You are burning off calories and fat... and you can replenish the water and salt you lost from the sweat by drinking Gatoraid.  However, don't try to diet focusing on just getting yourself to sweat.  It won't work and it's very dangerous.  Good luck.
