I recently went to a new doctor and noticed he was located in something called the Professional Building. I felt better right away.

This web site from the America Diabetes Association lists the symptoms of diabetes. You will also find an online diabetes risk test.

Only a qualified medical doctor can give you a proper diagnosis.  If you are older you would likely be suffering from Type 11 diabetes which is usually brought on by a poor lifestyle - lack of exercise and being overweight are indicators. So equally it can be controlled by changing your lifestyle.  A qualified doctor would take blood, urine and other tests to determine whether you are suffering from this condition - it not something that should be guessed at by non-experts and that includes me!

If you are a doctor there are several lab test you could perform and I shouldn't have to tell you this......but if you are a layperson see if the 'patient' is always thirsty, always tired, loosing weight, and constantly urinating.

There are two main types of diabetes:
Type 1: This is when your body makes little or no insulin.
Type 2: This is when your body produces insulin but your cells do not use it...

Written by experts in the field, How To Diagnose Diabetes Symptoms:Quick Easy Guides share little-known trade secrets and helpful hints to get you moving in the right direction.

Several different types of blood glucose tests are used.

  • Fasting blood sugar (FBS) measures blood glucose after you have not eaten for at least 8 hours. It often is the first test done to check for diabets.
  • 2-hour postprandial blood sugar measures blood glucose exactly 2 hours after you eat a meal.
  • Random blood sugar (RBS, also called a casual blood glucose test) measures blood glucose regardless of when you last ate. It may be taken throughout the day. It is useful because glucose levels in healthy people do not vary widely throughout the day. Blood glucose levels that vary widely may indicate a problem.
  • Oral glucose tolerance test is used to diagnose prediabetes and diabetes. It's taken after you drink a sweet liquid that contains glucose.

Only a Doctor can officialy diagnose you as a diabetic,But there are ways you can be sure enough to get the medical attention you may need,Most of the health clinics and hospitals have a do it yourself testing supplies wich you can get for free,it comes with test strips and a small lancet to draw the blood for the test, you match the color of the copleted test to a color chart, green means your o.k., orange means your low and yellow alittle over the normal range and, red means you are having elevated blood sugar reaction, you can get eneogh of these free testing supplies to conduct a weeks worth of tesr, so dont wait test your blood sugar, and relay these results to your doctor upon the next visit, good luck and happy thanksgiving, watch the eggnog. r.j.m
