A:

There really is no good, scientifically-validated reason for consuming or drinking raw eggs.

Contrary to some of the answers given here, there is ZERO merit to the idea that raw eggs contain "more muscle building protein" than cooked eggs, or that the protein in raw eggs whites is somehow "better absorbed by the body" than cooked egg white.

In fact, a 1997 study published in The Journal of Nutrition found that cooked eggs resulted in better protein availability and uptake by the body than raw eggs.  The difference was significant. Cooked eggs were actually 40% more bio-available to the body than raw eggs.

Of course, there are also potential safety issues with consuming raw eggs as well, as both Answerers pointed out.

For a detailed examination of how the "myth" of raw eggs as a better bodybuilding food got started, as well as a balanced look at the safety of consuming raw eggs (they aren't as risky as you might think -- but there are very few instances when eating them raw makes sense) you can check out the following article:

Are Raw Eggs Safe To Eat or More Healthy Than Cooked Eggs?

Best of luck!
