Maybe you are just more active than your friends! Are you really active, hardly ever siting down etc etc? I think genetics probably have something to do with it as it can work the other way round i.e, some people don't really eat very much and can be quite fat. Could be something to do with an over or under active tyroid gland.

Maybe you have a tape worm!

See a doctor it's not normal any calories over 3500 will make you gain.

I wonder whether this is a serious inquiry.  If it is, I wonder how you know that you eat 5-6,000 calories, which is twice what most people require.  You don't give your age, sex, or activity level.  Matt is correct about everything except the possibility of an underactive thyroid.  Overactive, yes, maybe.

As for your friends, tell them there are two secrets: diet and exercise.  4-6 small meals/snacks per day with 30/40/30% protein/carbs/fat each plus daily cardio and/or strength training--long story short.  Oh, and you won't be able to do what you're doing forever.  You will start to chub up eventually on that diet.

You probably have a really high metabolic rate. Some people remain skinny no matter what they eat. In fact their challenge is in putting weight. If your friends ask you how to be like you, just tell them they need a diet for their body type and metabolism.

Age is a number, and mine is unlisted!

That is not normal IMHO.  The damage you are doing to your internal organs with all that fat.

Please go to the doctor right away, if you havent already.

you sound a lot like me, although I've never eaten as many calories as you do on a daily basis... It because you have a fast metapalism (sorry can't spell) and therefore you burn calories alot. If you stopped eating as much as you do now, you'll metablism will slow down and you'll have to be more careful with what you eat. Not everyone has a fast metablism...I'm not sure, but I do believe it is genenic.

I think that everyones body is differnt and "normal" cannot be based on a textbook scale so find out what is normal for your body. Even if your more active than your friends you should see a doctor to be sure.

It is unfortunate that your bidy doesnt respond through the building of fat. That way you would at least be concerned about all the foods you are eating.

You may find out really fast that you are becomming insulin resistant, or that you are becomming anemic.

So many people that 'just dont gain weight' end up medical disasters when they get older. It catches up with everyone eventually.
