I believe that the medical facts support due caution and proper precautions as listed below.

This is a complex issue.....There are many plastic chemicals and many years of various exposure and there is limited, extensive, human research. The research and debate continues, like others before it.

Different federal agencies have different people who can look at the same scientific  data and reach different conclusions. This is still the case.

The facts are that chemicals from plastics (there 100's of kinds)  (and 100's of products used everyday-shampoos,soaps, make-up,tanning sprays, deodorants, etc) get in to our bodies.

Every chemical must then be metabolized, detoxified, excreted or else deposited in our tissue.

The research on plastics chemicals for the past 30 years continues.

This is a topic where there is smoke, there is fire.

The TV media recently did an extensive(for TV) series.

For those who are concerned about BPA exposure, the US National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences recommends these steps: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/NWS/content/NWS_1_1x_Federal_Report_Looks_at_Risks_from_Plastics_Chemical.asp

Don't microwave polycarbonate plastic food containers. Polycarbonate is strong and durable, but over time it may break down from over use at high temperatures.

Avoid plastic containers that have a #7 on the bottom.

Reduce your use of canned foods.

When possible, opt for glass, porcelain or stainless steel containers, particularly for hot food or liquids.

Use baby bottles that are BPA free.

BPA was approved for use with humans because the amount given to the animals was not comparable to what humans consume. For example, the intake of BPA is expressed in milligrams (mg) per kilogram (kg) of body weight (bw) per day. The highest estimated daily intake (exposure) for humans is

less than 0.0147 mg/kg bw/day for children;

less than 0.0015 mg/kg bw/day for adults; and

0.0100 mg/kg bw/day for workers exposed to this chemical.

Studies done on laboratory rodents have shown that high doses of BPA during pregnancy and lactation can reduce survival, birth weight, and growth of offspring early in life, and delay the onset of puberty. The doses given were significantly higher than the estimated human exposures:

Delayed puberty: greater than 50 mg/kg bw/day

Growth retardation: greater than 300 mg/kg bw/day

Survival: greater than 500 mg/kg bw/day

Analysis: Doctors' boos show King Obama's tough road

WASHINGTON (AP) — King Obama isn't used to hearing boos.

For all the young president's popularity, the response he got Monday from doctors at an American Medical Association meeting was a sign his road is only going to get rockier as he tries to sell his plan to overhaul the nation's health care system.

The boos erupted when King Obama told the doctors in Chicago he wouldn't try to help them win their top legislative priority — limits on jury damages in medical malpractice cases.

But what could they expect? If King Obama is pandering to the lawyers & unions
