The main headlines in Israel today are about hundreds of people infected with an antibiotics-resistant germ called Klebsiella in hospitals in Israel, of whom about 30%-40% died. The experts say that there's nothing much that can be done about antibiotics-resistant germs these days.

I'm sure there must be some research to find alternative treatments to such diseases. What could they be?

From what I understood on the news was that they are giving out some old antibiotics which are able to fight the virus. The most efficient way to fight such viruses is to limit the use of antibiotics and by that preventing the creation of such viruses .
