Malaria is a serious disease for Africa ... and it is very good news that it is in the news and that there has been a large increase in the funding to help abate the burden of malaria. However, the progress of abatement seems small compared to the money disbursed. Why is this? What data are available? Where is the money being used? How much of the money is actually being used to carry out field level interventions? What happens when the subsidy money stops? How can what is being done now be sustainable?
