My hands/knees hurt when weather changes...

Why do my joints start to hurt when the weather changes? What can I do to help the pain/prevent this?

Like you my friend, my joints tend to hurt more during an extreme cold spell. About all we can do is to take a product such as Aleve or any of many natural remedies.

The funny thing is, is that the medical community can not agree, prove or disapprove that many of us feel joint pain more just prior to a weather change, while others claim to feel it  more after a weather change.

Here is a great article that I have had bookmarked and think that you would enjoy reading. It may be able to answer all your question and concerns about our little problem.

Stay active!  Try light exercises; wiggle those toes, feet, fingers and hands to loosen them up.  Shrug or make circles with your shoulders to help them loosen up, as well. The pain is caused by the highs and lows that effect the weather systems (storm fronts).  Altho, no doctor will tell you that because there has never been a barometric pressure and arthritic pain study done, medically.  Sometimes wearing a brass bracelet on the most hurtful wrist or above the most hurtful hand will help arthritic sufferers.

Also, if you are one who rarely went to the restroom while working~this is what you get for not taking that break every two hours; the uric acid has built up in your skeletal and muscular system and is causing damaging imflammation to all your muscles and joints, and as far as I know, there is no cure or remedy for this.

When we hurt we try not to move around too much, but, that is how one's bones and joints become froze. One who knows and I am praying for you, as well

That's arthritis in your joints. My Dr. told me to wrap up during cold weather always. Wear gloves, include long johns under pants, thick tights if you wear a dress or skirt. Regular exercise and healthy diet is also important. Keep your weight where it should be, this will help your knees. An anti-inflammatory such as Aleve or Advil will help with pain.

Best wishes...

I have the same problem in my wrist and knees and ankles. Mainly before and during as a front moves in. I have noticed it hurting the most when I have not stayed on top of my hydration. Not enough water in the system is going to mess the whole system up cramping muscles etc. All of us know that the pain is from athritis. I have read that it is from the atmosphiric pressures. Best thing for me is to stay hydrated, stay warm, stay streched and keep the ibprofin by the side. Maybe i will move to the beach during the winter....

Goodluck
