Wash your hair and condition it as you normally would. Flat ironing hair can dry hair so use a deep conditioner or leave your regular condition on for a few more minutes than usual. Wash your hair thoroughly and make sure your hair doesn't feel stringy or you stayed in the shower/bath too long that made the moisture from the conditioner wash off.

Gotta give Mixed Chicks a shot.  Here is how their system works (and works well):

1. shampoo, rinse
2. deep condition, comb, rinse
3. work leave in through wet hair
4. air dry

tip: don't shampoo too often.  instead use the deep as a cleanser in between weekly shampoos, otherwise use a moisturizing shampoo.
