First she must be seen by a psychiatrist in order to receive an accurate assessment and diagnosis. Then it is imperative that she take jher medication as it is prescribed. This is a vicous cycle because she probalby self medictates inorder to deal with her schizphrenia. Once she starts feeling better as a result of taking her meds as prescribed, I caution you that she may stop taking her psych meds. Then she will begin to self medicate again. Any psychiatrist she sees must coordinate care with a substance abuse provider who deals with dual diagnosis. Both providers must coordiante care as well as her primary doctor. She will have a tendency to manipulate all her care givers and providers. DON'T ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN! Inform her entire support network you are trying to help her to find recovery. She may need to go to jail a couple more tomes before she decides to stop all her behaviors. As long as she keeps doing what she is doing, she will keep getting what she's getting. That also addresses if you keep making excuses for her she won't change her behaviors. Whent he consequences get severe enough she will be forced to look a ther part in all things. So, find out If she's ready to change. Ask if she's willing to do whatever it takes. find her a residential substance abuse facility who deals with dual diagnosis and you're on your way!!!! But is she willing??? If not, YOU NEED TO BACK OFF AND LET HER SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES OF HER CHOICES AND BEHAVIORS.
