Too much government?

WHERE will it stop?

For those liberal democrats out there do you realize HOW much we have allowed the government into our everyday lives, into heretofore non-governmental areas?

1.  They now own most of the banks. Don't thins so? Let me ask you this then. WHEN this crisis is over and there are dividends to be paid; guess who is first to be paid...uh-huh, the government; they own 'preferred stock' which means they get first dividends.

2. They (and the UAW) own GM & Chrysler. Think not? Then why is the government standing behind car warranties built by companies they don't own. How could the Pres fire the CEO?

3.  Bought an energy efficient light bulb recently? Government mandated by...I forget the date but, there it is again.

4.  Got digital TV? If not you'd better by early June. The government spent more than 100 million dollars and three years to meet the February deadline. We all saw how that went.

5.  Now they're going to hold hearings on a play-off system for college football.

WHY is any of this (and so much more) the responsibility of government. WHY have WE given them so much intrusion into our everyday lives?

Think about the non-governmental things that touch our everyday lives and ask yourselvs if government has been tinkering with it.

AHH, The Patriot act.

I was wondering how long it would take one of you Bush-hating Liberals to bring that up.

You are so predictable.

I notice you didn’t take any issue with the facts of my post. I noticed that you’re not enraged at the intrusion of government into our lives. Predictably, when faced with facts you blame Bush.

Let me ask.........

1.. Has there been even one attack on America (outside a theater of war) since the passage of the Act? - NOPE, not one.

2. With the removal of the restrictions placed on them by Clinton have the CIA & other intelligence agencies been able to gather more salient data & prevent attacks? - YES. Don’t think so, then ask the people working in that downtown office building  in Los Angeles two years ago that was scheduled for another 911 type attack.

3.  Are we safer at the end of the Bush term than before? - YES

4.  Does it make any sense to release known terrorists from Gitmo? - NO. It has been verified that at least 7 former detainees are back in the trenches trying their damnedest to kill Americans & other infidels.

Let me ask you another question.

Lets see if you have the guts to answer this EXACTLY AS POSED , without changing any of the parameters .

Your wife & children (parents & siblings...whomever mean the most to you) have been kidnapped and ARE going to be killed. These kidnappers have done this before and in every case have killed ALL of their captives. You have managed (how, is irrelevant to this exercise) to capture one of the kidnappers. Your loved ones ARE going to be killed. Do you torture the captive to secure any information that may be able to locate your loved ones?

Now, how do you feel about the Patriot Act and other measures that have been taken so we may sleep safely in our overly-financed homes every night.

Don’t be misled. Bush is not culpable for ALL of the problems we have now. There is more than enough blame for both political parties and for several administrations??.

All you Bush haters would do well to heed the advice of former Dallas Cowboys coach (and Hall of Famer) Tom Landry. While at a news confrence he was being asked about several injuries to key players on his team. Landry replied, "I can't cry about what I don 't have. I have to figure out a way to win with what I do have."

FDR, Truman, Ike and all since have a share in some of our problems that exist today. We can waste time and energy (but feed our egos at how 'passionate' we are) freting about the past or we can look at what is broken now and figure out a way to win with what we do have.

If people fear the goverment, that's tyranny; if  the government fears the people, that's liberty...Thomas Jefferson

We have an entire generation that has no shame in being "taken care of" instead of standing on their own two feet. We have kids that are educated by liberals spewing their philosophy and political correctness in everything from Engish Lit. to Math. These same kids are going to after school "B.F. Skinner" type programs which further conditions them to "liberal speak". The kids spend more time with total strangers than their own family and therefore see the State as their parental guidance.

They have been led to believe pseudo-scientists like "Mr. Greenjeans", Al Gore, and clowns like Michael Moore. They think that actors have credibility. They think an Oliver Stone movie is factual. They are not required to defend the Country that gives them the right to say or do virtually any stupid thing that they please. They have come to believe that Europeans have it better than we. They have been brainwashed into the collective American guilt trip of self loathing, that we are bad and everyone else has it right. We have allowed them to grow up in a permissive society where a child runs the family. Where it takes 2 parents working, where children have structured play time allowing no imagination, where every waking moment is scheduled, where there is no religious spirituallity, where it is OK to wear tattos and have classes on the proper usage of a condom but you can be suspended for praying.

We have an adult population that is working their butts off to chase the dollar to afford their lifestyles and allow their ungrateful children to go to private schools and expensive after school programs. These same adults were raised by the hippies and radical left of the 60's whose parents told them to "do there own thing" and be "real to yourself" spawning the present selfishness that pervades this Country.

We have generated an entire generation that cannot think for themselves. They believe more in the hype than the substance, e.g. the energy saving light bulb, on the surface seems good, right,...wrong! It contains mercury, it takes 5 steps to dispose of it not including the gasoline needed to drive the material to a toxic waste dump!!! Nice, eh? How about the electric car? It takes more energy to produce and maintain than a carbon fuel car. The batteries are made of expensive, toxic materials, the energy needed to make the parts is still derived from carbon based fuel. The electricity needed for recharging is produced from carbon based fuel. The used batteries need to be disposed in a toxic waste dump. The pollution from electric motors is OZONE which causes respiratory problems and the "green house effect" of the atmosphere.

No one seems to think of the consequences of their actions, including the government.

I'm very skeptical of optimists and pessimists

oh I've noticed and a lot of other folks have too. Here, how about the money?? the Money? it costs money to interfere. Man we have spent a lot and given a lot and man are we going to give more. I have posted this a couple of other questions it says a lot of how I feel.  The end price is in the energy we won't get much of or the medical care or the food that will be hard and expensive to find. ie: grow corn for energy and pay for that 2x in subsidies and at the pump and not grow wheat. NiceMoney mouth. The repubs did no one any favors. BUT our military was subsidized well (good money spent well) The military deserves our bounious gratitude. Here try this on.

Mr. Obama:

I have had it with you and your administration, sir. Your conduct on your
recent trip overseas has convinced me that you are not an adequate
representative of the United States of America collectively or of me personally.

You are so obsessed with appeasing the Europeans and the Muslim world that you
have abdicated the responsibilities of the President of the United States of
America. You are responsible to the citizens of the United States. You are not
responsible to the peoples of any other country on earth.

I personally resent that you go around the world apologizing for the United
States telling Europeans that we are arrogant and do not care about their status
in the world. Sir, what do you think the First World War and the Second World
War were all about if not the consideration of the peoples of Europe? Are you
brain dead? What do you think the Marshall Plan was all about? Do you not
understand or know the history of the 20thcentury?

Where do you get off telling a Muslim country that the United States does not
consider itself a Christian country? Have you not read the Declaration of
Independence or the Constitution of the United States? This country was founded
on Judeo-Christian ethics and the principles governing this country, at least
until you came along, come directly from this heritage. Do you not understand
this?

Your bowing to the king of Saudi Arabia is an affront to all Americans. Our
President does not bow down to anyone, let alone the king of Saudi Arabia. You
don’t show Great Britain, our best and one of our oldest allies, the respect
they deserve yet you bow down to the king of Saudi Arabia. How dare you, sir!
How dare you!

You can’t find the time to visit the graves of our greatest generation
because you don’t want to offend the Germans but make time to visit a mosque
in Turkey. You offended our dead and every veteran when you give the Germans
more respect than the people who saved the German people from themselves.
What’s the matter with you?

I am convinced that you and the members of your administration have the
historical and intellectual depth of a mud puddle and should be ashamed of
yourselves, all of you.

You are so self-righteously offended by the big bankers and the American
automobile manufacturers yet do nothing about the real thieves in this
situation, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank, Franklin Raines, Jamie Gorelic, the Fannie Mae
bonuses, and the Freddie Mac bonuses. What do you intend to do about them?
Anything? I seriously doubt it.

What about the U.S. House members passing out $9.1 million in bonuses to their
staff members – on top of the $2.5 million in automatic pay raises that
lawmakers gave themselves? I understand the average House aide got a 17% bonus.
I took a 5% cut in my pay to save jobs with my employer.. You haven’t said
anything about that. Who authorized that? I surely didn’t!
Executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be receiving $210 million in
bonuses over an eighteen-month period, that's $45 million more than the AIG
bonuses. In fact, Fannie and Freddie executives have already been awarded $51
million – not a bad take. Who authorized that and why haven’t you expressed
your outrage at this group who are largely responsible for the economic mess we
have right now.
I resent that you take me and my fellow citizens as brain-dead and not caring
about what you idiots do. We are watching what you are doing and we are getting
increasingly fed up with all of you. I also want you to know that I personally
find just about everything you do and say to be offensive to every one of my
sensibilities. I promise you that I will work tirelessly to see that you do not
get a chance to spend two terms destroying my beautiful country.

Sincerely,

I realize you asked about intrusion but this mess in Washington intrudes into my American self. Have a great day sir thank You for the question It's invigorating being American.

I see you asked questions of me ,but I see You've answer most of them. So here is my opinion on the question. If the kidnapping is due to a act of war yes I say torture to get info. However, this is America and we have said that America does not torture. Americans use to be a voice of reason. What happen? Has someone cursed our nation? What happen to the peaceful exchange of power that we are so proud of? Why are soccer moms on the street protecting health care reform? Why do consrvatives hate Obama so much? I know with out a doublt it is not because of intellegents. Every president through history has some faults. However Obama's faults seem to be unexcuseable. I hope the man doesn't catch a cold. Someone would scream impeachment due to health issues.
