Government auctions car sales, auto repo sales

How to find bargains?

Have you ever bought any bank repo vehicles or government auction repossessed cars? Did you secure a good price compared to the real value?

Were there any problems with the vehicle after?

Appreciate any info.

I was hoping to buy a government seized car below retail price. I always hear about police auctions and government auctions online and in commercials but they always lead to me having to pay for a membership. Does anyone know of a legit police auction or a place where I can buy seized cars?

The best place to buy a repossessed car is at a government car auction. Repossessed cars are expensive to store and are often sold as quickly as possible - so the bank or lender can recoup their loan money as quickly as possible.

The lender will then communicate with the former owner to recover the difference between the loan amount and the amount at which the car was sold at auction.

Liam's right: the best way to find a deal is at a gov. auction.

If you buy offline, you should get there with enough anticipation, take a good look at the cars and see who's there ( professional car dealers, other experienced buyers you might know of ). Best thing you can do is check as many auctions as you can fing in your local area, since that increases your chances of finding the right vehicle with almost no bidders.

You can have both a standard or extended guarantee on the cars you acquire, but they're usually in good conditions and papers are ok. In any case, always take with you a mechanic or someone who knows what he's talking about and check the VIN.

Here's more info on government auto auctions and again some more tips on government auction cars .

The best of luck to you.
