Yes, there is a capital 'G' God. He is our Creator, and you can know Him personally. I can tell you a fool proof way to discover God and be 100% certain of His existence and what life means. There are only a few steps but this is what you have to do first:
Be you black, white, other, Jew or Gentile--you first have to forget everything negative you think you know about Him (or try your best to, so you will truly have an open mind to Him). Forget about those heretical TV preachers making promises they can't keep and making God into 'another God' with their non-biblical doctrines, and legalistic rabbis who stick to Talmudic law over Torah (God's Law), and any other 'person of God' of any other religion who comfused you or who has made you feel like there isn't a God...
Ok, that done, get in a quiet place, and ask Him earnestly, "God? I don't know if there is a God at all. But if You are real, I want to know You. Are You for real? Please reveal Yourself to me."
2nd Step: IF YOU ARE JEWISH (non-Jews, yours follows next), whether you read Hebrew or English, get out your Tanach and read Isaiah 53 and then Isaiah 55 aloud (not the notes, just the text. The notes are often biased by the translators' personal beliefs). Many Jewish people are raised hearing that they should never read this chapter. That it will confuse you and that only senior rabbis can interpret them. But go with me here, God inspired it, it can't hurt you, read it with the heart to hear the voice of God in your spirit as you read. If you seek Him earnestly, with your whole heart, He will hear you and reveal Himself to you. It happened to me. It has happened to dozens of my friends...
If you are not Jewish, you need to go and get out a Holy Bible (stay with me here, remember to forget the garbage you've been FED, you are on your own now, looking for yourself, not under the watchful eye of a human being) --I suggest you DO NOT read the old language translation of King James because the old fashioned language is out of use and confuses most seekers. But if that is all you have, God will help you with that translation). Now read Genesis 1 aloud (it's not magic, it just helps you hear and understand the words). Then go to the New testament (toward the back of the Book) and read the Gospel of John all the way through. God will reveal Himself to you as you read...you might feel lightheaded and joyful, so just listen and read. No, I'm not crazy. If you want to know Him, if you are serious about knowing who He is, He will reveal Himself to you when you do this exercise in earnest.
If you are Jewish, an extra note for you: do not assume you know everything there is to know about Him because of your biblical heritage, rather, grasp your Jewishness, and get ready to truly hear from Him. He is the God of Israel, He is yod-hey-vav-hey, He is Moshiach, Yeshuati, and yes, He is Moshiach in two Comings. He came first as Moshiach ben Joseph--the servant King as prophesied, and He will return again to redeem Zion, as Moshiach ben David--the King who will reign forever. When He reveals Himself to you, and you Moshiach makes Himself known, don't run off and abandon your Jewish heritage. God desires to draw us all back to Him, to His ways, 'the ancient paths'.
My prayer for you reading this right now: Avinu, malkeinu, our Father, our King, you have led someone to read this post and I want to lift them up right now to your throne. They want to know you, Abba (Father), and I want You to know them. Please reveal Yourself to them today. Soften their heart so they may feel and appreciate Your love for them. Open their eyes so that they may see You. Open their ears so that they may hear You. Shower them with the shalom of your Ruach Hakodesh (Holy Spirit) right now in Messiah's name. May they know You, by Name, forever. The Name above all names, Lord of lords and King of kings. Reader: May Adonai bless you and keep you, may He make His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you. may Adonai lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. God return to Zion speedily and in our day. Amen and amen.
