How to use a glass bee catcher

Hi;

I understand that sugar water needs to be place in the glass jar and the cork stays in the top portion. Does the stopper at the bottom stay in? If so, how would the wasps get in and if it is out won't the wasps be able to escape? I am sure the answer is simple.

It's quite simple. You need to put your hand in the bottom end to start using it.
