Why after researching a question for someone and they receive a great answer, they do not acknowledge your efforts?

I know many of you spend a great deal of thought and research on many of these questions. How do you feel when you receive

no response?

Does it ever make you want to quit answering?

Give me your feedback please.

When I receive no response (or vote) on an answer of mine, I am at least happy to know the Q&A are visible and open for participation and someone else might give me feedback.

I'll search, while you Cool wait.

Great minds do think alike!  I was just thinking the same yesterday.  I have answered at least 5 pages of questions and no on has botherd to thank me for the hard work of researching something they could have done with a thumbie vote.   We don't get paid here, our only reward is a thumbs up or two -- or down.  But many people go away with their answer perhaps feeling contented or dismayed.  Nonetheless, someone worked hard to obtain the answer or to at least provide their professional expertise or knowledge of the question.  Yes, it makes me want to quit answering, but I continue because it's my profession to answer questions and something I've always done.  But it would be nice to get a motivational boost from the recipient.  I sometimes remember the person's name I helped.  If he or she comes again for an answer, I may be disinclined to assist -- because someone will, but it may not be an answer as great as the one you or I could have provided.

Ahhh I love the great minds do think alike quip. I am with you on your line of thinking, a simple thumbs up would let us know that they appreciate the answer or even that they came back to see the answer.

I hope that you don't quit answering as you are by far one of my favorites Wink

Thanks for the reply and best wishes.
