Does a gas stove have to be converted to LP?

When I bought a gas clothes dryer, I had to pay the installer an extra $215 to have it converted to Propane. Now, I'm considering buying a new stove from Sears Online, and am wondering if the same thing is going to happen again.

I asked Sears Online Consumer Help; they refused to answer, saying they didn't have technical data(!). I haven't been able to find anything out on Google either.

A friend of mine had a house built and new from the start that she was going propane. She purchased all gas appliances but had no idea that she would need to have conversion kits installed on them. She found out at the end of move in day. Needless to say, she was pissed off. Then she had to pay someone to come back out and install the conversion kits. It took several days to get someone to come out. Sorry, I don’t have any idea of what she had to pay.
