My son's dad passed away this last week. The family is having him cremated then "scattering his ashes in the woods". That is half way across the country, tho. Is there a way to have some kind of memorial or stone or something for my son to have a place to visit when he wants? (Like I go to my grandpa's grave when I want. I know he is not there, but I feel closer in a way.) Anyhow, I didn't know if this was possible or who to ask or where to put it.

One suggestion....I know someone who did this with some of their fathers ashes.

Purchase a locket, have the funeral home put some of the ashes in the locket, and then have it sealed.  I believe the funeral home, or creamatorium will do the whole thing...it was only about $100 for this person I know...but prices may be very different.

Your son would ALWAYS have a part of his father with him this way!

My condolences to you and your son.
