The "white" you sometimes see on chocolate is called bloom.

Bloom is caused by sudden, excessive change in temperature.

Therefore, it is probable that freezing chocolate chips would be more likely to cause bloom to appear, than less.

yes i leave mine in the bag and put them in a freezer zip lock bag also, last for months

Like jkgrandma mentioned there is nothing to worry about you van also make the cookies or whatever your making and then freeze it the white color is just ice.
