I know someone who did BI's for a law enforcement agency and they pretty much  looked for ANY arrests, felonies or misdemeanors.

Even civil law suits, restraining orders, divorces, tax cases, etc.

When I looked into joining the police department, you could not have used pot in the past 3 years - would fail your free criminal background check. But where I work you can't lie because they administer a lie detector test...

You can go to legal aid or a criminal attorney and ask the question most will not charge you for a short session.

Third you can go to the internet there are companies that do all kinds of searches and for a few dollars you can get a report.

A criminal background check, is it state specific or national?

A lot of on-line services do criminal background checks - do they check all states at once or just the one that the individual lives in?
