What is the best free PHP editor/framework and why?
PHP editors are a very personal choice. I've tried many, most of them I found on http://www.php-editors.com/
For a full IDE I liked PHPEdit from http://www.waterproof.fr/ (now shareware I believe). For a simple text editor with extra functionality, I like PSPad and Notepad++
I suggest you download and try many of the trials available and see which fits best for you.
The search for people who can answer your question continues for as long as needed - until you find the answer you were looking for.
When an answer is posted by someone who was invited (byYedda or by yourself) to answer your question, their answer is marked with a yellow "invited by Yedda".
To be invited to answer other people's questions in your areas of knowledge and interest, be sure to list your favorite topics:

Of course, the more helpful your answers are, the more likely you are to be invited to future questions...
There are many free Visual Studio versions, and there is a PHP plug-in, not free, but trial-friendly.
I suggest new free PHP IDE - Codelobster PHP Edition (http://www.codelobster.com)
It has also Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, Smarty and JQuery plug-ins.
