How to format two sets of style sheets - one for slow connections, one for fast

Does anyone have an idea of how I could load different style sheets based on a single click on the link "No Flash (Slow Connections)" for the following web site? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

http://timstesting.x10hosting.com/home.shtml

Basically, we need Flash to load for those people with faster connections, but a static page to load instead if they only have dial-up (which, apparently, still does exist, which blows my mind :)

There is no easy way that I know of to base the use of CSS or anything else on the speed of the client.

You can, however, check the existence of Flash on the browser and decide whether to show Flash or not.

What most people do is do a first page in which a user can select a graphics heavy site (with flash) or a graphic light site.

Thanks for the info. We are trying to do this through the use of stylesheets, because we don't want to create a whole other site, having to duplicate each and every page.

Any other thoughts on this? Thanks.

Stylesheets would be great, but since some of the site contains Flash, which as far as I understand, you don't want to show for slow connections.

You might be able to share some of the site design and just replace the HTML code where the Flash is with something else.

There are a couple of rules of thumb that you might do to improve the load speed for slow connections. Check out this link at the Yahoo Developer Network.

They have a set of good rules that can help you speed things up which might not be very noticeable for people with broadband but will be greatly appreciated by your dialup users.
