How much forieign currency can you take into Myanmar?
To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.
Foreign currencies in excess of U.S. $2,000, jewelry, camera, video camera and electronic goods should be declared at the customs' counter at the airport on arrival. For more information go to this web site: http://myanmartravelinformation.com/mti-before-you-come/index.htm
Just so you know the exchange rate is:
1 Myanmar Kyat = 0.15826 US Dollar
1 US Dollar (USD) = 6.31860 Myanmar Kyat (MMK)
Thanks Kibbutz:
Another question, If you don't mind. I live out here in the Philppines , So how would one go about getting Peso's or dollars to some one who lives in Myanmar.
Sorry, I don't know how to send money from the Philippians to Myanmar. Try typing "sending money to Myanmar" in Google and see what you come up with. You can also ask another question on Yedda about how to do this, and see if someone else has the answer.
Thanks for you help,it has been greatly appreciated, and do have a great New Year.
Thanks again.
Doug.
We found that US dollars were the preferred currency. Be sure to bring only clean and crisp new bills. Bills with the slightest wrinkle, stain, or sign of wear will not be accepted. Do not even fold or roll the new bills you get from your bank. Also, Doug, if you will be traveling with a female, suggest that she bring along all of her old lipsticks. Almost everywhere in Myanmar, young Burmese girls will approach foreign women and very gently, shyly, and politely ask for lipsticks. A lipstick or two can also provide great barter opportunities.
Got an answer for Doug? Would you like to comment on the posted answers, or vote for the one which you think is the best?
