A:

I've been involved with international trade for over 16 years and India is a promising emerging market with a lot of potential for US products. There's a great book about the opportunities in the BRIC countries and outlines the steps required to succeed in these markets at www.khanstellationgroup.com/kits.html

However, the best prospects for US businesses are in

  1. Airport and Ground Handling Equipment
  2. Computers and Peripherals
  3. Education Services
  4. Electric Power and Transmission Equipment
  5. Food Processing
  6. Medical Equipment
  7. Mining and Mineral Processing Equipment
  8. Oil and Gas Field Machinery
  9. Pollution Control Equipment
  10. Retail and Franchising
  11. Telecommunications Equipment
  12. Textile Machinery
  13. Water

The list can go on but you're best bet to succeed is to stick to those things you know and are good at. Money will come as a by product of your commitment and knowledge of the business so dont focus on income itself. I've made millions from selling nuts and bolts than stand up vertical MRIs.

The opportunity is in everything that you are a master of...

Good Luck!
