Please forgive my ignorance - may I ask...?

Forgive my ignorance - my job keeps me out of the loop at times. This is not an excuse, I know, and I am ashamed for not being vocal enough through this incredible campaign and vote. I did what I could here in Florida - to no avail. Can people travel to Connecticutand be married without resident status? Thank You - John DJMNeel@aol.com

Yes you can! I looked it up to make sure it is specifically legal in Connecticut . The repeal of a 95 year old law allows non residents in most states to marry as non residents, that right applies to any legal marriage. Most states that allow gay marriage must abide an allow this same right to gay marriage,  Connecticut being one of those states. Here in California the battle to reclaim these basic rights to Marry whomever we love rages on.  Good luck and congrats for whomever is getting married. Go use your rights! Another question to ask is if your state recognizes that marriage. Regardless, the answer is YES!

Meeting on Openness Closed to Public

It's hardly the image of transparency the Obama administration wants to project: A workshop on government openness is closed to the public. The event Monday for federal employees is a fitting symbol of President Barack Obama's uneven record so far on the Freedom of Information Act, a big part of keeping his campaign promise to make his administration the most transparent ever. As Obama's first year in office ends, the government's actions when the public and press seek information are not yet matching up with the president's words.
