How to ship a fresh baked pie?  I want to ship (mail, send, overnight, whatever) a homemade pie to someone.  How do I do that so the pie arrives intact?

Here's what I would do:

~ First, wrap the pie in foil or cling wrap so as to protect it from coming in contact with any packaging materials.

~ Next, get a block of styrofoam just slightly larger than the pie, but not as deep (so it would come up to under the edge of the pie tin). Hollow out a space and nestle the pie tin inside it, then place the foam-encased pie tin inside one half of a cardboard box (again, just big enough to fit).

~ Get a shipping box and place a layer of sturdy foam on the bottom. Wrap the pie box with several layers of paper and tape it securely, then fit that inside your shipping box. Use crumpled newspaper and packing peanuts to fill all the corners and dead space. Add another layer of foam at the very top of the box. Don't forget to jot the recipient's address on a slip of paper and drop it inside (in case the outer label gets damaged).

~ Take it to your preferred carrier and ship via overnight delivery.
