I just searched 3 stores for them myself.  At the last one they had a sign on the freezer case that said Mrs. Paul's has discontinued them nationally.  Didn't say why.  I'm really disappointed!

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

You are probably correct about the sweets being discontinued; the item has not been a big seller in recent years, with all of the competition from Boston Market, Bob Evans and other companies making sweet potato dishes.  Guess Mrs. Paul is going to concentrate on fish nuggets, instead.  Another iconic product bites the dust.

It seems they have gone the way of; Oscar Mayer Beef Franks, Red Brillo and so many other long favored products. Many of the old companies have been bought by bigger companies and ruin the original products.  So goes America!

I have emailed Pinnacle Food Group asking them why the Mrs. Paul's Sweet Potatoes were discontinued.  I'll let you know what they say if/when I get an answer.

Here's a copy of the email I received today, 11/25/09:

Thank you for taking the time to contact Consumer Insights regarding Mrs.

Paul's® Candied Sweet Potatoes.  It gives us great pride to have the opportunity to interact with the individuals who use our products.

I regret having to disappoint you, but we are no longer manufacturing this product.  It has been discontinued and the vast majority of our inventory has been depleted. When an item is discontinued it is typically a result of low distribution. While an item often has loyal users, shelf space is very competitive at retailers and they will discontinue an item if it does not sell well.

Thank you for contacting Pinnacle Foods.

Thanks everyone for your help and knowledge...although it leaves me sad at least I know it didn't pay to try just one more store and maybe I would find them....Thanksgiving will never be the same.

It would have been nice if they made them a seasonal production item.
