Bug bombs in the house but you will need to do it a couple times, after eggs hatch. Call a pest control for outside they can spray a couple times but you might need to keep it up.

Wow, had this problem years ago. I used the powder Borax bleach. Sprinkle it on carpeting but let it sit for a  day or two (will have to find a place for the cat) and vacuum up. Walk around in white socks to see if it has worked before vacuuming. It sucks the life out of the fleas. I swear, it worked!

I know fleas are not fun and they are hard to get rid of.  You will need to treat your cat as well as your house and yard.  This WILL NOT be a 1 month thing and you will need to use an IGR (insect growth regulator) so that you are getting to the eggs and larvae as well as the adults.  In the population of fleas from eggs to adults, there are more eggs than adults.  If you don't get them, you will continue to have new hatches of fleas.  EctoKyl IGR is a good spray for indoors.  Be sure to spray (it's more of a mist) hard surface floors while you're at it.  Home Depot and Lowe's have sprays and granuals for outdoors.  The areas that need to be treated most are the cool damp areas of your yard.  Be sure to get under schrubs, decks, and trees as this is where the eggs and larvae will thrive.  They can't take direct sun and heat.  Also be sure to treat or remove you door mats.  Many flea eggs and larvae can be deposited there  from sleeping animals.   There is a product called Capstar that is for quick kill on your animal.  It will begin killing in 30 minutes, but only lasts 24 hours and is only for fleas.  Frontline Plus will last for 30 days and will take care of eggs and larvae.  DO NOT use topical treatments for the store on your cat.  I have seen too many cats poisoned by these.  Vaccume, vaccume, vaccume - this is going to be your best defense!  It's best if you remove the bag after you vaccume.  Make sure that anything you use on your cat is made for cats and read all directions.  Also, watch your cat for signs of tapeworms which are carried by fleas.  You will see small white worms on the hair around it's bottom and small rice looking dried up worms where your cat likes to sleep.  These are segments of a large worm.  I'm guessing your cat is indoor/outdoor which is going to make this really hard.  It would be best if it stays inside so it won't be picking up new fleas as it makes it's rounds.  Good luck!

Flea products on your cat like frontline and sr, see your vet. These products work on the animal first then the animal spreads the product throught the house. Borax in the carpet and over fuirniture, allow it to sit for a couple of days before vaccuumning it up, this will need to b done several times over a month. But is a waste of time if you don't treat your cat and or dog. Garlic works with dogs as a flea  repellant, but cats don't tend tyo like to eat garlic.

I do not use chemicals because of my alergies, I have companion birds, and I also have many concerns about using chemicals for everyday things.

Cinnamon repels fleas, I mix up cinnamon oil with vodka (any cheap alchohol) and spray on furniture. I use powdered cinnamon on the carpet. It smells nice, no chemicals and it chases them away.

Don't forget the cracks and crevices.

You can sprinkle cinnamon powder in the yard, too, reapply after a rain.

Bathe your cat in Dawn dishsoap. Get help to hold the front legs.

I never run water when bathing my cat, it petrifies them and you get hurt.

I have 1 glass of water with a squirt of Dawn in it, this way, you do not get gobs of soap in one spot that is hard to rinse out.

I also have about 6 big glasses of warm water to rinse.

Use plastic glasses.

Do not get soap in your cats eyes or ears.

Vaccum often, reapply cinnamon powder to your carpet and sprinkle cinnamon in the pet bedding and wash daily until the problem is resolved.

The cinnamon oil will also keep wasps at bay, they do not like the odor.

I used to have that problem with cats and dogs. I went to the vets and got flea bombs as they worked better than the ones I bought at the grocery store (which didn't work at all). I removed my animals and bombed the house and followed directions.  Then get the drops from the vet to apply monthly to the cat between the shoulder blades.  Advantage worked pretty good.  It is a true pain but if you keep up with the cat Advantage, it will soon be controlled.  Cats pick up fleas from the grass outside during the summer.  I now keep my cat indoors to keep her safe and healthy.  When I was a breeder, I also sprayed my yard but with only 2 pets now, it is controlled with the drops.  I do not like to use pesticides but to get a jump on fleas, this is what I had to do and then had them controlled for good

There is a substance called diatomaceous earth,all kinds of grades of it,horticultural,food-grade,and others.  It's actually very soft feeling and can be used anywhere around smallest of mammals.  It consists of fossilized diatoms that to insects are very sharp but to any bigger creatures it feels very smmoth.  You can do a search for it and find all kinds of info...We have more than 20 cats and do not use poisons if at all possible.  I sprinkle diatomaceous earth anywhere we have infestations of ants inside or out,always under the food dishes inside and out but also on plants being eaten by bugs....I sprinkle it finely all over carpet and sweep it in with broom and wait a day then vaccuum.

Because we also have feral cats that hang around outside last year I got nematodes that attack fleas (they live in the shady areas quite well) from Gardens Alive and seemed to help a lot.  I have actually dusted our cats with the d earth when I couldn't put their Revolution on (either they were ill or too expensive to do all at once)if I noticed they were scratching a lot and I didn't want the fleas to trade cats inside.  I use a flea comb on cats who are getting bit too and it works.  I went with the food grade d earth this time because I got some d earth with pyrethrins in it which isn't supposed to be too good for cats.  If I suspect they have worms I sprinkkle it on their food.  I've tried it too. A talcum powder bottle works well for finely sprinkling on people bedding for a day or so....hope this helps!
