How do I fix my AOL e-mail tab entitled "NEW" to reflect emails received?

How do I fix my AOL e-mail tab entitled "NEW" to reflect emails received?  

 The tab is currently showing the number 1 and is stuck on that....no matter how many NEW emails I receive - the tab tells me I have "1" NEW email waiting to be read.  Please help - Thanks

Can you send me a screen shot showing this problem to chbiegel@aol.com?  Alt/Print Screen will capture the screen shot which you can paste into an email
