The Gila and San Pedro rivers are there, you can fish for channel catfish, flathead catfish and mud cats there. Also perch, carp, and buffalo. There are some other species passing through this area. There is a bait store in Globe, it's about 40 miles away but dependening on what route you are traveling may be on your way.
It is Killmer's Kountry Store, it's on Hwy 88, in Globe, Az, 85501 or you can call them at 928-425-0700. They are very nice and helpful. They stock a full assortment of baits incluing waterdogs, minnows, several kinds of worms and many other choices.
