My question is: Can I get fired for being on temporary disability in New Jersey? The problem is that I am a Legal Secretary/Paralegal being very overworked at my job. I am the only one there and I have to do the job of 5 people. We have no secretary he got laid off about 1 year ago. I recently have been feeling very sick (light headed about to faint, heart palpitation, nausea, blurry eye vision, etc.) I went to the doctor to get my blood work and he diagnosed me with anxiety; I am only 24 years old. He had me do a heart exam. After 5 days my blood is OK. He put me on Lexapro for anxiety/depression and he told me to take about 4 weeks off and go on disability. He signed my papers and I gave them to my boss the same day I went on disability. As of yet I have not received the signed portion of my boss. The thing is that my anxiety is caused by my job but I did not write that on the disability papers because I do not want to go against him in worker's compensation. Can he go against me in any way for me not to receive disability. Can he fire me for not being at work for 1 month due to medical reasons? Please help me out I have been on disability since Thursday of last week. (March 19, 2009) Thank you again.
