I was fired for taking my paid sick days and paid vacation time to be with my father in the intensive care unit at the hospital. I was told that in Washington state (family care act) as long as I had paid time off available to me, I could use this time in an emergency. I wasn't able to use FMLA since we only had 49 employees.. Is this a civil Law suit? Do I need a Lawyer?
You haven't lived until you've traveled.
You need to hire a lawyer.

Laws vary from state to state and depending on the work you do the law may or may not apply < family owned, private, charity > your employer claims it was a hardship for them ? Maybe legally they could have replaced you for as they see it. Abandoning your job ? However i think you should consult a lawyer with expertise in occupational law / injury to see if you qualify. Best wishes
