Why does your finger turn green from a gold ring

does it mean your gold ring that says 14k inside still turn my finger green

Hi,
No offence, please, but that means that the ring was plated with a very thin layer of Gold that went off somehow and now the metal that was underneath was exposed... according to the colour I believe that metal is Copper (as Brass [a Copper alloy]).
