Hi,

I was on Serophene for Day 3-7. On CD15, I was told that I have two developing follicles. On CD17&18, I was cramping. On CD18, I had my u/s again and was told that the follicle on my right ovary is dominant and based on the follicle size and hormone level, I am very close to ovulation.

My question is, what happened to my other follicle from the left ovary? What was that cramping I had on CD 16&17? I am on CD19 I had light cramping today.  What are my chances of having a double ovulation? My maternal side of the family has a history of Faternal Twins. Please advise.

Usually one follicle takes over, and the others dissolve. Twins is a possibility, but in natural pregnancies they're about 10%-15% as far as I know, so even if you have a familial tendency it is not guaranteed.

Cramping might be your body's way of telling you it's near, either because of the hormone levels or because your uterus is getting ready, or your tubes and ovaries are preparing for the egg to move.
