what can cause a healthy 13yr old to develope high blood pressure, slow heartrate a ekg showed a thickened heartwall.yet we are unable to get him in to cardiologist for 30 days.we were told to restrict his activities until seen
Your son's condition is called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a congenital disorder with potential serious consequences including sudden death. You are right to restrict his physical activities until he is seen by a cardiologist. You also will need to keep a close watch on him as ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation have been known to occur even in the absence of activity.
