Does the tendency to develop phobias have any hereditary aspects?

I just found out that the woman I am going out with have a family history different types of phobias, she is fine and seems like a rather brave woman!

I ask this question because I know some mental illness do have a genetic predisposition (like depression and schizophrenia) and I wonder about her future and mine as well.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

My daughter has paranoid schizophrenia, and we do have a history of it in our family; but it appears that it runs along the maternal side. I was also told by our doctor that her children have an 89% chance of developing it in their lifetime, and her brother has a 50% chance, although the other cases in our family are among all females. The cases of depression in our family are also maternal, and are more frequent.

Our doctor also told me that high levels of stress can contribute to the development of schizophrenia.

Modern medicine and research have made the illness more manageable with medication and therapy, but it is still very hard on loved ones.

If you have any questions you would like to ask me privately, please feel free to send me a message, and I will help you in any way I can.

It's definitely not a Yes or No question. Different opinions on this one. I've found these two articles to be very interesting. (Article A, Article B).  Have a look.

regret is full of missed opportunities.......

all i can say is her family have done very well not to of passed down their phobias on to her, that must of been truely hard.

phobias are a mixture, personal strength has a major roll but this all comes from childhood, it involves a mixture of being hereditary, genetics, brain chemistry, and most importantly life experience, which is where her parents have obviously come.

well done

Technique to operate our body from Prana...

From the works of Living Enlightened Master Paramahamsa Nithyananda. In this clip taken from the discourse titled, Disengage from the I, Swamiji teaches us that there are different levels from which we can operate our body from fear, greed or from prana or life force. Most of us live our lives operating between greed and fear or between Mooladhara and Swadhisthana chakras. In this meditation technique Shiva is making us experience a cognitive shift out of fear and greed. Through this technique we can experience that we are beyond this body.
