I am the garden assistant you can trust in your garden.

A:

Do you mean Nicotiana the popular plant that is grown in part-sun gardens all over the world or the actual plant that tobacco farms make tobacco from for cigarettes?  If you mean Nicotiana the flowering garden plant--it is used as a border plant usually, although it does come in different heights and can be placed either in the middle or as a border plant.  It has a very fragrant bloom and draws hummingbirds to feed off its nectar.  Here in Colorado it takes part-sun-but in lower altitudes it may take full sun.  Hopefully this answers your questions.
