Where should I take my family for vacation?

I want to go on a family vacation and have small children. Where is an inexpensive but fun place that I could take them during the Christmas vacation? Is Disney World too crowded during the Holidays?

You haven't lived until you've traveled.

While Disney World is crowded during the holiday time, it is extremely fun and a great experience for children. I would suggest staying at a hotel outside Disney World, and possibly renting a car (although most hotels outside Disney World have a shuttle that can take you, but they have scheduled times that they travel at). Also, another way to save on a trip like this is to pack your own food to eat inside the park (I know they tell you that you cannot bring food in, but if you pack it carefully under something in your backpack, they most likely won't see it). You can check out cheaptickets.com as they sell by far the least expensive tickets to any destination.

Happy holidays!

Yes, Disney World would be too crowded over the holidays. I can't see spending over $60 per person to wait on line for 2-3 hours per ride.

But the Orlando area is still an option, because there are tons of other things you can do there besides Disney World. Here's some ideas:

1.. Go to old Old Town (www.old-town.com) in Kissimmee. They have a bunch of rides there that you won't have to wait in line for. $20 wristband gets you unlimited rides. For go carts and bumper cars, Fun Spot is a great option as well (www.fun-spot.com).

2.. Have breakfast with the Disney characters. Several Disney World resorts have a buffet breakfast where the Disney characters wander by while you're eating. HIGHLY recommended if your kids are young. We did the one at the Contemporary Resort. About $20/person, but reservations are required. Allows you to visit Disney World without the cost and lines.

3.. Do one of the dinner shows. I like the Pirates Adventure the best, but there are plenty of others - Midieval Times, Arabian Nights, Capones, Dixie Stampede, etc.

4.. Walk up and down International Blvd - lots to do there. For kids, I would check out Wonder Works (the upside down building)

5.. If you've got too many family members to fit in one hotel room, then rent a vacation home. Cheaper than 2 hotel rooms and let's you cook your own meals, saving you money. Also gives you a private pool so the kids can go wild without bothering anyone. You can find one at www.floridagold.com, www.sunstatevacations.com, www.hayesvacationrentals.com, www.disneyfloridaholidays.com, or www.disneyorlandohomes.com.

To find more ideas, there's a good directory of information at www.myflavacation.com/orlando.

Most places are a lot more crowded during the holidays, although you might have success if you go to a theme park on Christmas Day, since most people will be with their families that day. Here are some other ideas for some of the best family vacation destinations . Good luck and enjoy it when you're on it!

If you're in the UK you can check out Fantasy Island (http://www.fantasyisland.co.uk). It's one of the best theme parks UK .

If you are in need of some last minute vacations , there are some fun and affordable cruises, which are almost all-inclusive (just not airfare and excursions).

yes it will be crowded, but they are very good at managing people and moving traffic (one of the best I have seen).

As for inexpensive, checkout tips at <a href="http://vacationsavingtips.com/discount-package-for-disney-world.html">Disney World Vacation</a>
