Like Caxie, I too was going to ask if your father is elderly. My mother developed dementia and it started out similar to what you describe. It was caused by "hardening of the arteries". If you can at all, get him to the doctors for a check up. Go with him if he will let you. You may need to be his advocate. Most elderly folks do.
