How do you convince parents that having a pet is good? They seem to be very stubborn about it, how do I convince them to have one?
First, one should choose the proper pet. If one of the parents, for example, is allergic to cat's hair, there is no sense in trying to convince him or her to have a cat at home.
I believe that having a pet at home should derive from loving animals and not from "an external pressure". In your case there are two options: either to make your parents love home animals or to wait until you have a home of your own. You can take them to homes you know where people love pets and feel good with their company. And you can also ask to have a pet for an "experimental period" at the end of which your parents will have the chance to refuse hosting the pet longer.

Take on a responsibilty at home that your parents wouldn't expect you to take on, and keep up with it. If they worry about hair, and you want a dog, they have non shedding breeds available. In my expirience if you can prove to your parents that your'e mature and responsible they should let you have something.
