I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Where does the expression

Where does the expression "tie the knot" come from?

It is thought that the expression derives from the nets of knotted string which supported beds prior to the introduction of metal-sprung bed frames. The theory says that in order to make a marriage bed, you need to "tie the knot". There is no evidence to support this, mere folklore.
